2010 Port Douglas and Mossman Gazette with Reef Writers

 The 3rd Short Story and Poetry Competition

 

Open to all writers and residents in Australia

 

 

Conditions

 

1.      Open theme. Entries can be fiction or non-fiction.

2.      Stories and Poetry must be original, unpublished and must not have won a monetary prize in any other competition.

3.      Entries must be typed, double-spaced on one side of A4 paper, with pages numbered.  

4.      Author’s name must NOT appear on manuscript; name, contact details and title of work to appear on the entry form. Only the title should appear on the manuscript.

5.      Maximum of three entries per person.

6.      Categories

Short Stories Junior: Age 10 to 16 Max: 600 words

Short Stories: Open Max 1500 words.

Poetry:           Open  Max 60 line

7.      Entries must be typed, double-spaced on one side of A4paper.

8.      Each page should be numbered.

9.      Do not put your name on any pages.

10.  Use only plain type face such as, Courier New or Times New Roman font (12pt).

11.  Entries will be destroyed after judging. Judge’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.

 Results will be announced in The Gazette on Thursday 2nd September 2010, winners will     be notified. Prize-winning stories and winning Poem will be published in the Gazette.

Prizes will be awarded in each category First: Book vouchers to the value of $100;Runner up Book vouchers to the value of $30 from, Whileaway  Café Bookshop Macrossan St, Port Douglas

   Entries close at 5pm Friday 6th August 2010.
